Orthodontics is when the teeth are straightened or moved in order to improve the appearance of your smile by correcting the alignment of your teeth and the way you bite together. An incorrect bite can lead to long term dental problems and even jaw and head pain. By straightening the teeth, you also help to prevent tooth decay and gum diseases as straighter teeth are easier to clean.

Orthodontic treatment usually takes between 18-24 months but will vary according to how complex the case is. We will provide you with a time frame at the beginning of the treatment; however breakages of the brace will add time to the treatment.

Conventional Braces
Conventional metallic braces are the orthodontic standard care treatment.  Conventional braces consist of brackets and bands which are cemented (glued) to your teeth which hold flexible wires in place. In turn, these wires exert pressure on your teeth gently moving them into their correct position over the course of your treatment.

Low Friction Low Force Braces (6 Wings)
Ideal for too crowded teeth and high canine case. Less pain and better results.

Sapphire Braces
High transparency for outstanding patient aesthetics demand

Self Ligating Braces - (Metallic, Ceramic)
One of the most significant differences from conventional dental braces is the absence of elastic ligature (bands or ties). Self-ligating braces typically are smaller and more aesthetic since a metal door is required to hold wires in place (this prevents "invisible" or clear options of these braces, with the exception of 3M Unitek who have devised a hybrid bracket called the "Smartclip"). They also tend to stand off the teeth further toward the lips and cheeks. The ties on this type of brace are used to hold the archwire in place.

The self-ligating braces uses a slide mechanism to hold the archwire, thus reducing the amount of pressure exerted on the teeth. However, there are many similarities to typical braces, such as the fitting on such appliances; self-ligating braces are glued onto the teeth and are not removable until treatment is complete. Regular cleaning is also essential for effective treatment and desirable results.

Invisible Braces (Invisalign & PositioLiners)
Invisalign is a virtually invisible orthodontic treatment used to improve the appearance of your smile by correcting the alignment of your teeth and the way you bite together. Unlike traditional fixed braces which are cemented to your teeth for the duration of your orthodontic treatment. Invisalign is clear, removable and comfortable which no one will know you’re wearing.

Invisalign uses the latest in computerized technology and three-dimensional modelling to generate a series of clear, see-through trays “aligners” which fit closely over your teeth and are virtually unnoticeable. The clear aligners are specially fabricated to fit your teeth exactly and work by moving your teeth gradually week by week, millimeter by millimeter into a position that gives you a natural-looking, beautiful smile.

Retainers (Fixed and Removable)
When your orthodontic treatment is complete, your braces will be removed and your teeth will be cleaned and polished to remove any remaining cement. Your treatment is not over as the teeth need to be held in position while the surrounding gum and bone settles. This period is called retention and the appliance that holds the teeth are called retainers, which are either fixed or removable. Depending on the type of retainers, impressions may need to be taken in order for the retainers to be made.

TMJ Splint &Fiber Splint
Do you suffer from chronic pain in your jaw and face, experience "popping" sounds when you chew and talk or have symptoms such as headaches or lockjaw? If so, the problem may be TMJ. This condition affects more than 10 million people in the U.S. alone. And it’s more than just painful — over time it can cause serious damage to your jaws and teeth.

TMJ Dysfunction is a popular term to describe a disorder of the jaw joints or the muscles that control the joints. Symptoms masquerade as a multitude of other problems such as sinus headaches, migraines, neck and shoulder stiffness and earaches.

We can accurately pinpoint the source of your pain and provide relief using the very latest in gentle, nonsurgical treatments.

Contact us for more information about TMJ Treatment.

A splint is an appliance or a material to prevent movement of a mobile part. A mouthguard is a device to be worn in the mouth. Depending on the design of it, it prevents injury to teeth and/or jaw during teeth grinding or sport events.
